Young Bourke artists feature on the Project

A Bourke High School student has attracted national attention for his art work. Mervyn Powell will be featured on The Project this Sunday, along with another young Bourke artist, Allan Kelly.

Bourke High School Principal Andrew Ryder said producers from the national television program organized the interview through the Maranguka organization.

“The Project crew came out to Bourke to do the interviews,” Mr Ryder said.

“It’s a great story and Mervyn is an example of the role schools play in helping students make positive choices and change the trajectory of their life.

“He has had made a huge change to his application to school by connecting to his art.“
