Bourke Public’s new Principal Ben Smith has big plans for his school, and hopes his tenure will have a positive impact on the school community, buildings and its curriculum.
Mr Smith took up his position in January and has embraced his new home town.
His wife Felicity is also a teacher at the primary school and his three children attend Bourke High School, Bourke Public and the kindergarten.
Like many people who choose to live and work in Bourke, Mr Smith has been surprised at the sincerity of the parents and the broader community and said it was the change he was looking for.
