The Bourke community is in safer hands thanks to the dedication, professionalism and sense of duty of local paramedic Rebecca Combe.
Rebecca has been accepted into the intensive care paramedic course, the highest clinical level a paramedic can achieve.
Just getting into the course is an achievement - and it wasn’t easy, according to Rebecca.
“It’s a competitive process with about 45 per cent failure rate and many people try multiple times over years to get entry into this course,” Rebecca said.
“Achieving that level was always something I wanted to get to.
“I had a university qualification in medical science before I joined the NSW Ambulance Service and in October last year, for the first time since I have been in the service, they opened up applications for the course to any person in the state.
