Money for the ‘Wish List’

More drought money – up to $15 million – has been put on the table to develop grass roots projects, with Bourke and Brewarrina two of eleven selected rural communities.

The money has been made available through the Murray-Darling Basin Economic Development Program to boost local economies in the Murray Darling Basin.

Federal member for Parkes Mark Coulton said Bourke will get a much-needed boost with the funds targeting local projects that would otherwise be stalled by the tough economic conditions brought on by the drought.

“This round will provide a much-needed boost for these towns by funding targeted, grass-roots projects,” Mr Coulton said.
