Bourke pool rebuild on target

Renovations to the Bourke swimming pool are on schedule, with a major concrete pour already complete and state of the art filtration systems in the process of being installed.

Bourke Shire Council Manager of Environmental Services Dwayne Willoughby said the contractors were hitting all the time frames set when the works began, and a design change meant water efficiency would be above what is required to meet government standards.

“The concrete pour has been done for the deep end of the pool,” Mr Willoughby said. “The team is working on the shallow end now, with all the form work up and the pour beginning during the week.

“Filtration infrastructure has been upgraded in the retention tanks with 30 tonnes of filter media put in. That is what helps with our backwashing and our turnover in water.

“It means we have a better product; we are not back-washing as much which means less water wastage.
