A big week for Ronald Simpson of Brewarrina

Followers of Ronald Simpson enjoyed a bonanza week this week when the talented apprentice rode 8 winners over 3 meetings at Bathurst, Dubbo and Gulgong with several at big odds.
Formerly from Brewarrina and now apprenticed to Clint Lundholm at Dubbo, Simpson kicked off with a treble at Bathurst (June 5), Buster Fontein ($20), Kora Magic ($4.40) and Electric Storm ($51).
Next was Dubbo (June 9), a double with Starlink ($3.30) and The Mediator ($11) followed by Gulgong (June 11th), a treble with Shadow Shot ($18), Dawn County ($3.40) and Weave That Web ($5.50).
At the Gulgong meeting 12 bookmakers operated, and some offered 100/1 about Simpsons mount Shadow Shot in the opening event and after several bets of $2,000 to $20 were recorded the official starting price was $18.
The day before Gulgong, Ronald Simpson had his first metropolitan ride at Royal Randwick, on the Clint Lundholm trained Smooth Esprit ($41) and impressed as he weaved through the big field from near last to finish fifth, a length behind the winner Cliff House.
The final tally for the week was 19 rides for 8 winners, 2 seconds, 2 thirds and 7 unplaced. {…]
