Bourke Fiesta this Saturday

Get ready for a spectacular time in Bourke this weekend as the Bourke Twilight Fiesta hits town.

Starting at 4pm, this Saturday, March 29, the Darling Park/Wharf precinct will transform into a buzzing celebration filled with live music, thrilling activities, mouthwatering food, vibrant markets, and mesmerising street performers.

This free event is perfect for everyone—whether you’re a kid or just young at heart. It’s an opportunity to celebrate our amazing community with locals, visitors, and friends from nearby towns.

Mel Milgate, Economic Development Manager for Bourke Shire Council said there are plenty of great things happening around Bourke now and the fiesta is not to be missed.

“The Twilight Street Fiesta will be a fantastic celebration,” Ms Milgate said. “Thanks to the NSW government and Bourke Shire Council, we have Fanny Lumsden and The Buckleys to entertain the crowds.” Ms Milgate said.

“The Buckleys have a lot of award nominations and play country, rock and 70’s nostalgia and they are here in Bourke for a couple of nights.

“Fanny Lumsden is also on her way to Bourke, and they will all perform around the wharf precinct, on a stage overlooking the Darling River.

“We’ll also have jumping castles and street performers and a lady by the name of Helly Hoops who teaches people how to twirl a hoop.”

It’s not a fiesta without food, and there will be plenty to choose from.

Adding to the Aussie fare of sausages and steak sandwiches, there is a variety of cuisines to choose from – you can sample a bubble tea, a wood-fired pizza, or tuck into curries, salads, Nepalese and Thai food. There’s even a pig on a spit.

“Cooking gets underway at eight o’clock on the Saturday morning, so when the fiesta starts at 4pm it will be good to go,” Ms Milgate said.

“There’s so much to choose from, plus fairy floss, taters on a stick and corn on the cob. For the kids there is Toy Kingdom and face painting as well as the other attractions.

“If you’re not there, I don’t know where you’d rather be. It’s all free, besides the cost of food and drinks – including a free jumping castle – what more could you want!

“The adjacent streets will be closed around the event and reopen on Sunday – so bring a chair, bring a picnic rug, and bring your family and friends. It will be a fantastic community event that we hope everybody will support,” Ms Milgate said.
