Spring Flower Show goes ahead despite hot weather
Bourke’s Rose and Spring Flower Show went ahead st the Renshaw Pavilion on Saturday even as the mercury climbed above 40 degrees.
The major prize of ‘Champion Rose’ – sponsored by The Western herald went to Maggie Poole.
Maggie also won most of the Rose section – including Runner up Champion Rose, The Vonnie Honeyman Memorial Trophy, and best pink, red and yellow rose specimens.
There were 246 entries, and the show was judged by local gardener, Pam Simpson.
Secretary of the Bourke Garden Club Liz Kerr said that it was impressive to have so many entries, especially with the recent hot and windy weather. […]
