Bourke’s Mobile Mayor
Being a Mayor in an Outback shire means plenty of travelling as Bourke Mayor Lachlan Ford has found out in recent months, but it’s all for the benefit of the Bourke Shire and surrounding areas.
Most recently, Councillor Ford has been in Western Australia representing the Bourke Shire at the annual National Roads Conference.
“On top of that, I’ve also been at meetings of the Country Mayors Association and the Western Shires Alliance held in Sydney and Dubbo respectively. It’s been plenty of work, but I’m very proud to represent our constituents as best as I can,” Councillor Ford said.
Councillor Ford said that he had also ventured to Tamworth for the Local Government NSW (LGNSW) Annual Conference held in late November.
“I’ve done plenty of kilometres getting out there seeking to promote Bourke and discuss funding options with different Ministers,” he said.
“It’s been exciting to meet a lot of new people – it’s not just about being the Mayor of Bourke Shire, we are a member of a greater western NSW community.” […]
