The Bourke cricket side consolidated itself at the top of the intertown Brewer Shield Cricket competition at North Bourke Oval on Sunday with a 7 wicket win over Cobar.

Bourke opening bat Will Mitchell guided the Bourke side to 3/88 after Cobar struggled to be all out for 86 off just 26.2 overs.

Mitchell hit 42 runs off 50 balls, including seven fours, to carry his bat through until Bourke passed the Cobar score.

Cobar won the toss and elected to bat but was never in the hunt for a competitive total.

Phil Harley top scored for Cobar with 20 and opener Jay Egan hit 16, but the only other bats to reach double figures were Jake Harbison and Mark Fraser who scored 12 runs each.

Colin Lang and Andrew Bell did the damage with the ball taking three wickets each. Lang took 3/18 off four overs and Bell – 3/21 off 5.2 overs.

Kenrick Cross cleaned up the Cobar tail taking 2/11 off five overs including two maidens, and Troy Hayman kept things incredibly tight early in the Cobar innings taking an incredible 1/7 off 6 overs. […]
