Last week the Bourke High School celebrated International Men’s Day by hosting a beautiful luncheon for men of Bourke.

International Men’s Day is celebrated every year in November, and this year the themes were ‘helping men and boys’, ‘celebrating mateship’ and ‘celebrating men leading by example’.

Men from all over town were treated to a gourmet luncheon prepared by Kristi Ibbotson and her helpers, Andi Ibbotson, Janayah Moore, Lyiata Gillon, Kayleigh Lollback, Megan Cameron, Lara Kiley, Abbie Green, Savannah Bates, Kai Mulherin and Kayce Kiley.

Liam Brodrick from Clontarf at Bourke High School said that Clontarf had collaborated with the Bourke High School to bring the community into the school to celebrate mateship amongst men.

“If we can create a stronger relationship with our community we will get better outcomes for our students, and that’s what we are trying to prioritise,” Liam said.

Organiser, Murray Cronin said that the Bourke High School would like to thank the staff, students and community who supported the school’s International Men’s Day.

“Special thanks go to Tyrone from Maranguka Dancers, and all the students that danced to open the day,” Mr Cronin said.
