As COVID infection numbers continue to climb in Bourke, an isolation camp has been set up at the Mitchell Caravan Park on Becker Street.

Twenty motor homes arrived in Bourke on Thursday evening, and by Friday morning the COVID camp was taking shape.

The facility comes with a site manager and 24-hour security, and the vans are self-contained with air conditioning, shower, toilet, and cooking facilities. Each van has an awning and chairs, and rails to ensure separation from adjacent vans.

Residents will have food supplies and other support, like arrangements for other community members isolating at home.

Coates Hire provided the motor homes, and as Business Development Manager, Tristan Oxman explained, this was not the first time his company has stepped in to help with disaster relief.

“We are ready to go at any moment and emergency responses are what we do,” Mr Oxman said.

“We helped out in the bushfires last year, and I was involved in that massive bushfire season. I lived away from home for four months supporting the efforts there.
