Fiesta fun hits Bourke!

Bourke’s Twilight Street Fiesta was a huge success on Saturday, and not even patchy rain could dampen the festivities.
General Manager of Bourke Shire Council, Leonie Brown, attended and had one word to sum up the colourful and exciting fiesta – “fabulous!”
“I don’t think Bourke has held an event quite like that before,” Mrs Brown said.
“To have live bands in the street, and all the other street performers and stalls, the whole thing just went off so well.”
“We had a nice little market and some lovely food stalls, and the entertainment was brilliant.
“The day began with local band – The Yellow Bellies plus the local Timorese choir led by Father Oche – and both were very popular and very well received by the crowd.”
The feature acts on the day were The Buckleys – a band made up of two sisters and a brother followed by Fanny Lumsden – both fantastic entertainers.
