‘Forming a deep love for Lightning Ridge’ – Amy Flaherty
After teaching visual arts for the past eight years in Maitland, Amy Flaherty has decided to take on a new challenge by teaching English/History in Lightning Ridge.
Before her time in Maitland, also Amy spent six years teaching in Moree.
Mrs Flaherty said that she loved living and teaching in Moree.
“It’s where I met my husband, Damian; teaching there we became great friends, which developed into love, marriage, and children. We loved the community, and the way of life impacted on us positively,” Mrs Flaherty said.
“After Moree I had been teaching at a school in Maitland with around 1100 students for years and began feeling burnt out”, Mrs Flaherty remarked.
“I spoke to Damian about the transfer of duty option to a new location to invigorate our teaching careers and give our children a new experience. […]
