Getaway explores the Walgett Shire

In a spectacular two-day journey, the renowned travel show Getaway made its way to Lightning Ridge last week, immersing viewers in the heart of this captivating destination.

The charming and ever-adventurous Catriona Rowntree and her dedicated crew descended upon Lightning Ridge following a visit to Walgett, where Catriona had the opportunity to reconnect with family.

During many years fronting ‘Getaway’ Catriona has travelled to 70 countries and shared her experiences with ‘Getaway’ viewers.

She is a popular anchor of a popular show, known for her bubbly personality and her passionate descriptions of her many travel destinations.

‘I’m so excited about bringing the Getaway crew to Walgett and Lightning Ridge to show everyone else how wonderful life is in Australia’s outback towns.” Catriona said.

Catriona plans to explore the Lightning Ridge Opal Mines and visit John Murray’s Art Gallery in the heart of the Ridge and a farm stay at Carinya Station, amongst other attractions.

“There is so much to discover and enjoy out in the big sky country and I’m so excited to come back with a camera crew,” Catriona said.
