Jen’s Flourishing Floodplainto feature at Bourke Easter Festival
Jenny Greentree will be presenting her inspiring new exhibition, “Flourishing Floodplain” as part of the Back O’Bourke Easter Festival.
Jenny has put together and impressive collection of paintings following the floods of 2022/23 along the Darling River.
“Following exhausting efforts fighting to keep water out of Back O’Bourke Gallery in the December flood, Jody said she has been thinking about finding joy even during difficulties.
“I considered that all things are always being made new and our recent major flood in the Darling River was a great example,” Jen said.
Jen has produced an exhibition that tells the story of the flood event.
The main works depict the expanse of the flooding, then the emergence of new life as the water receded and finally the vivid transformation of the earth.
“Our often-dry landscape was alive with birds, animals, wildflowers and thick, green grasses”, Jen said.
As well as an astonishing look at the expanse of the floodwaters and the wonder of the flood, the ‘Flourishing Floodplain’ exhibition is a picture of renewal and hope.
Visitors can immerse themselves in the freshness, consider the faithfulness of nature and hopefully, be positively refreshed themselves.
“My desire is that this exhibition will lift spirits and initiate wonder and awe,” Jen said
“I hope it will regenerate folks in the way the landscape has been regenerated. I’m excited about the new beginnings gifted to us by Mother Nature through the experience of flooding.
One of the artworks is called ‘Restoring the Soul‘’. According to Jen, it ‘physically refers to the soul of the earth being restored, but emotionally and spiritually refers to restoration and healing in us too’.
