The Brewarrina community turned out to enjoy fun and games in Memorial Park on Monday - but there was a serious message behind the event.

The community day was the launch of Child Protection Week, focussing on the services and support available to families in Brewarrina.

The theme behind this year’s Child Protection Week was to embrace the overarching message that ‘every child, in every community, needs a fair go’ and children deserved to grow up safe, connected and supported in their family, community and culture.

Mayor of Brewarrina Shire, Councillor Vivian Slack-Smith said the welfare of children was everyone’s responsibility and she hoped the message from Child Protection Week would encourage people to reach out.
