Bourke clay target shooter Kevin Hatch is off to the state finals after a successful competition in Dubbo last week.

Kevin, who is a member of the Bourke Clay target Club, will represent the Western Zone division at the finals in October.

For Kevin, it’s just another notch in his belt after 50 years in the sport.

“I took up clay target shooting when I was about 19 and have thoroughly enjoyed the sport over the last 50 years” Kevin said.

“I have also picked up a lot of trophies and prizes over the years, but the best thing about shooting is all the great friends you make along the way,

“In this particular competition category, I will be representing the Cobar Clay Target Club.”

The competition in Dubbo was the selection process for the team, made up from the double-singles points disciplines and Brian Mann and Kevin were on target and made it through the competition with enough points to qualify for the finals.

“It was pretty tough competition in Dubbo and there was a fair bit of wind around which made it difficult.

“I qualified for the Western Zone team, and we go to the state finals now and compete against five zones in NSW in the finals over the long weekend in October.

“I’ve won there before but not in the capacity of the Western Zone and I’m just lucky to be able to compete at that level again this year,” Kevin said.
