Over 5000 spectators turned out to the Louth Races on Saturday, for a seven-race program held in perfect weather.

President of the Louth Turf Club Jim Strachan said the meeting was a huge success.

“We had a terrific meeting, great racing, and a really good race program,” Jim said.

“We ended up with 61 final acceptances; there were a couple of scratchings after that, but the field remained strong and the track was in absolutely perfect condition, thanks to Jason Boede who just does a magnificent job looking after the grounds.”

2WEB racing commentator Tim Moses said the Louth meeting was an excellent event with a huge crowd and the biggest number of campers he’d seen at Louth.

“It was a well-run show, by a very well organised committee, so congratulations to Jim Strachan and his committee,” Tim said.

“The star of the show was trainer Connie Greig with a winning treble, including the Louth Cup.

“All-in-all it was a terrific day’s racing, and if you couldn’t enjoy yourself at Louth on Saturday – you’re just too hard to please,” Tim said. […]
