Nathan Johnson, who manages the ‘Memories of Brewarrina’ Facebook page, received the Shire’s 2025 Australia Day Community Achievement Award for his efforts in preserving the community’s memories and stories.

“It was a real surprise to win the Community Achievement Award and my mum, Ellen Barker and dad, Norman Johnson, who still live in Brewarrina, accepted the award on my behalf.”

Mr Johnson said he is still extremely passionate about his home shire and keeping a historical record of the area. With over 5000 followers on the ‘Memories of Brewarrina’ Facebook page, it’s clear many other people feel the same.

“I think it provides people with that sense of nostalgia,” Nathan said.
