New Macquarie Home Stay facilities to open in 2025
Although the opening of the highly anticipated new accommodation building at Macquarie Home Stay in Dubbo has been pushed back a little, Managing Director of the facility, Rod Crowfoot, said the wait will be worthwhile.
“It’s been a big year for us in 2024 with a lot of milestones achieved, “Mr Crowfoot said.
“In January this year, the bulldozers arrived to start moving the soil ready to build our new CWA of NSW guest house.
“We’re not going to be quite finished for Christmas, as expected, however completion is very close, and we are looking forward to having it ready for guests to use in January 2025.”
Mr Crowfoot said that the design of the new facility took on board feedback from oncology patients, as it aims to support patients coming for treatment at the Western Cancer Centre.
When the new development opens in the new year, there will be 50 accommodation units for patients and their families who travel from outback areas to Dubbo for medical care.
“We’ve made some slight changes – previously, guests need to walk along the outside verandah to get to their room, but in this new building we’ve internalised the hallways and also added a small kitchen to each room,” Mr Crowfoot said. (…)
