Police Remembrance at Walgett

Walgett was one of many locations to mark National Police Remembrance Day last Friday with emergency services officers and their families gathering to pay their respects.

Acting Commander of Central North Police District Andrew Mensforth, attended the service at Walgett.

Acting Superintendent Mensforth, who is normally based at Wilcannia is acting in place of Superintendent Gerard Lawson who is on leave.

Supt Mensforth said the service was attended with representatives from Police, NSW Fire and Rescue, and Ambulance personnel plus local Walgett Shire Council staff and locals paying their respects.

“Moree Police chaplain, Phil Speirs came over and said a prayer and most local police came along to remember police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.” […]
