Remote area students graduate

Nine Year 12 students from Collarenebri, Goodooga and Mungindi celebrated their graduation at the Lightning Ridge Bowling Club

As part of the Northern Border Senior Access Program (NBSA), the Class of 2024 the graduation was a night to celebrate the success and hard work of the graduating students.

Graduates included Jazmine Skuthorpe and Kaylarni Brown from Goodooga Central School, Darcie Lamb, Tannaih Ramien and Lachey Murray from Collarenebri Central School and Dominic Gieseler, Leo Fairhall-Kirkman, Francois Henning and Nash Woodbridge from Mungindi Central School.

All the students received graduation medallions and a portfolio which included certificates recognising their success across their range of subjects including completion of TVET courses and School Based Traineeships.

The night also included the presentation of three prestigious awards.

A major award for ‘Commitment and Desire to Improve’ went to Francois Henning. After growing up in South Africa, and moving to Australia, Francois resumed his formal education in a class of younger peers. He completed a Certificate II in automotive mechanical by the end of Year 10 and was offered a school-based traineeship in automotive electrical engineering. Francois went on to achieve a Certificate I in engineering, a statement of attainment towards a Certificate II in engineering pathways and a statement of attainment towards a Certificate III in business.
