Rugby League – WALGETT DRAGONS NO MATCH FOR BOURKE WARRIORS
The weather was perfect, and the field even better on Sunday afternoon when the Walgett Dragons took on the Bourke Warriors at Davidson Oval.
The games kicked off at twelve, with the Bourke Under 15 Girls putting on an exciting match and coming out tight winners, 14 points to 12, against a Dragon’s side that wouldn’t give up.
“The skill and ability that these young girls showed,” Ground Manager Tina Sharpley commented, “was exceptional; they seem to improve each week.”
In the second game, just as tight, the women’s league tag team went down 14 points to 22 against a competitive Dragon’s side.
Pam Abel took home three points from that game, whilst Tiara Sharpley secured two and Chloe Russel one.
Before the main game kicked off at 2, the two first grade sides linked arms and observed a minute’s silence to remember Darrell Brookson, the Vice President of Bourke Warriors Rugby League Football Club, who died suddenly on the weekend.
The ref blew his whistle, and Walgett kicked off deep into the far corner.
