Show ‘n’ Shine a dazzling display
The Bourke Show
One of the most popular displays at the Bourke Show was the Bourke Historic Vehicle Club’s Show ‘n’ Shine.
The gleaming vintage vehicles caught the attention of car lovers, kids - and people who just wanted to remember the ‘good old’ days’.
Club Secretary Liz Kerr said the gathering of restored vehicles at the Show included entries from across Bourke Shire and beyond.
“We had members of the Cobar Fuelburners at the Show’n’Shine come to Bourke to support us and overall, it was an extremely high standard of vehicles,” Liz said.
There was plenty to drool over and some of the entries were not just pieces of history but works of art, including some iconic Australian cars - Neil Driscoll’s 1969 Holden ute, Ken Dunne’s 1970 Monaro and Frank Kerr’s newly acquired 1956 FJ Holden.
“There was a wide range of vehicles from far and wide as well - including a Leyland Mini, a truck, motorcycles - it was very difficult to judge, and we were lucky to have two judges at the Show from Dubbo City Toyota.
“It made it easier because they didn’t know any of the exhibitors, they were objective, and they did a great job.”
Liz said Frank’s passion for old vehicles meant they would soon have to extend the garage.
“We bought the FJ Holden out of Brisbane and thought it would be fun to dress up in vintage clothes from the era for the Show,” she said.[…]
