There’s plenty to do at Bourke at Easter, but one of the untold stories of Bourke is the many beautiful National Parks within short driving distance from town.

Less than a one-hour drive South of Bourke is the majestic Gundabooka National Park and State Conservation Area offering two hard roofed accommodation options, Redbank Homestead north of the Park and Belah Shearers Quarters south of the Park.

There are two separate camping grounds – the newly upgraded Dry Tank Campground nestled in the Mulga, or Yanda Campground on the banks of the Darling River.

There are some beautiful scenic walking tracks within Gundabooka National Park – Mulgowan Aboriginal Art site walk, Little Mountain and Bennett’s Gorge walking tracks.

All walking tracks provide spectacular and unforgettable views of the Gunderbooka Mountain. Gundabooka National Park also offers three separate day use areas – Mulgowan picnic ground, Little Mountain picnic area and BBQ and Bennett’s Gorge picnic area and BBQ. Stay overnight or take a BBQ and picnic for a day trip. Gundabooka National Park and State Conservation Area won’t disappoint.

The Yapa (Mulgowan) Aboriginal art site walking track is always fabulous with some iconic Aboriginal rock art. According to most visitors, it’s one of the highlights.

“The Art site is about to undergo a state-of-the-art upgrade in late April. Visit during the school holidays before it’s closure to allow for construction to take place.”[…]
