Walgett Council issues water tower apology

The iconic image of musician Jimmy Little has adorned the Walgett water tower since 2020, and just recently was back in the news on a council level.
The impressive water tower mural, based on a photo by John Elliot, was painted by Jenny McCracken, Frank Wright, and John Murray along with Producer and Creative Project Manager, Andi Mether of Zest Events International.
A Yorta Yorta man, Mr Little was a celebrated and beloved Australian Aboriginal musician, actor and advocate whose career spanned six decades.
He recorded his first single in 1956 and rose to prominence as an Aboriginal entertainer throughout the 1960s, topping the charts and became a household name with ‘Royal Telephone’ in 1963, which sold over 75,000 copies and went gold. […]
