Warren Pumas down favourites in major semifinal, while the Bogan Bulls oust the Barbarians

Warren Pumas achieved the near impossible feat of downing the Walgett Rams 24-19 in the major semifinal of the Western Plains Rugby Union at Walgett on Saturday.
The match was a clash of titans as the Walgett Rams squared off against the formidable Warren Pumas, the only team to beat the Rams in the 2023 competition.
The game met expectations, with both teams leaving it all on the field as the lead changed constantly, keeping spectators on the edge of their seats.
The game was a nail-biter, as neither side gave an inch.
Hagen Size emerged as a standout player for the Pumas, delivering an exceptional performance that included a try, three conversions, and a penalty goal.
Joe Hambin and Hugh McLean also contributed with individual tries for the Pumas.
The Rams’ Dillon Walford again displayed remarkable skill, notching a try, and converting twice. Lachie Holz and Grant Green also made their mark with a try apiece.
Three tries each, but the kicking made all the difference for the Warren side.
The Pumas’ hard-fought victory secured their spot in a home ground grand final, scheduled for September 2 at Warren’s Victoria Oval.

Meanwhile, in the earlier match – the minor semifinal, the Bogan Bulls triumphed over the Bourke/Brewarrina Barbarians with a score of 27-17.
