Welcome to Bourke!
The 16th year of officially welcoming newcomers to the Bourke community took place recently, and the venue was packed!
The gathering was a chance for newcomers to meet local Bourke Shire Council members, hear from sporting clubs, social organisations, and schools and most importantly, mix with other new residents and get to know each other.
General Manager of Bourke Shire Council, Leonie Brown said it was the best turnout they had seen at the annual event for many years.
“We were thrilled that the free, family-friendly event was really well attended,” Mrs Brown said.
“We had around 100 adults come along, as well as plenty of children. Community members who turned up shared their experiences of living in Bourke with the newcomers. […]
