The annual Welcome to Bourke event event has been such a big success that it’s become a monthly gathering.
The usual Welcome to Bourke event was held on 5th March, hosted by Bourke Shire Council and Bourke Rotary with support from RDA Orana’s Welcome Experience.
Around 100 adults, including 20 new workers from Bourke Abattoirs attended the annual event, getting to know each other and the fabulous lifestyle Bourke has to offer.
Bourke’s “Welcome Connector” Kelly Lienesch attended the Welcome to Bourke evening and said the event’s success and her role helping to assimilate and assist new residents led to her establishing a monthly gathering.
“Part of my role is to engage with the essential workers that are part of the welcome experience here in Bourke,” Ms Lienesch said.
Last Friday 4 April Ms Lienesch organised a ‘Thank God It’s Friday’ meeting at the Port of Bourke Hotel – a family-friendly get together including games and drinks.
